The Georgia Tennis Men’s team put up a spirited fight, but were not able to overcome a strong North Carolina Team.

They put up a spirited fight, but eventually the Cinderella story ended. The Georgia Tennis Mens team overcame two of the nations top programs last weekend, but ended up losing in the Final Four round yesterday.

The dawgs were defeated 4-3 by #9 ranked North Carolina in another rain affected match. After coming out strong against UCLA after a thunderstorm and turning momentum onto their side, the dawgs were unable to maintain their high level of performance this time after a delay. It’s often the way things go in tennis and it’s why rain delays can often sway matches.

Take nothing away from a very strong North Carolina team who previously knocked out #1 seed Wake Forest. They will take on the nations #2 team Virginia in the Final at 1pm today. That being said, the Georgia team can hold their head high. They were one of the youngest teams in this years draw and were able to secure the SEC regular and tournament crowns in 2017.

Head Coach Manny Diaz will be hoping that the team can continue its fine form into 2018 when they should have a great chance to compete for a 9th National Championship.
