Extend Stricklin.

Probably the option that would annoy most fans. Rewarding a coach who has so far proven nothing but an ability to lose. But there is a reason for why this might be necessary. If UGA is going to continue to improve, it needs to attract more talent to its program. It’s likely going to be pretty hard for Stricklin to do this in 2017 if he can’t guarantee that he’s going to be at the school for another year.

Unlike other sports, baseball players can go pro before college. However if they do commit to going to college, they really have to commit because they are locked in to being there for 3 years. In short, they have to believe in a coach if they are going to turn down 6 or 7 figure checks. While it would be totally acceptable for Stricklin to coach the team without a contract considering his results, it wouldn’t be shocking for him to say that without an extension, he’s recruiting with his hands tied.

To me, this would be the most unlikely decision. I just don’t think the Georgia Athletic board could guarantee any more money to a guy they might have to fire in a year. It would be a crazy financial decision and considering how disciplined UGA often is with their cash, I think its highly unlikely.
