This week, UGA made the decision to keep baseball coach Scott Stricklin around for at least another year. Georgia had another disappointing baseball season that resulted in losing in the first round of the SEC tournament. While they might have ended the seasons winning some series against some strong SEC opponents, there’s no doubt that season 4 was a disappointment for Stricklin.

Earlier this week, we chronicled what options could exist for the Athletic Department regarding Stricklin. Unsurprisingly, they chose the one we were expecting. Stricklin will hopefully be put under pressure to succeed in 2018, the last thing this team needs is a coach who isn’t worried about winning.

In an interview with Chip Towers last week, Stricklin confirmed that he would not be receiving a contract extension. He also confirmed that pitching coach Fred Corral would be leaving the program. He also mentions the fact that last year, his recruiting class was the #3 in the nation and that he hopes they can continue to develop for 2018. Stricklin really needs those talented players to step up and have a winning season next year.
