Georgia football: Top 10 decades in the Bulldogs 125 year history
8. 1990’s (72-43-1)
The 1990’s may not have brought any championships to the Bulldog Nation but it is still an important decade. Because the nineties was a decade of evolution in college football. The three yards and a cloud of dust offense was going out of style and pro-style, balanced attacks were all the rage.
Unless you had a top-10 defense, you needed to get on board with the offensive trends. Fortunately, with Eric Zeier leading ray Goff’s offense in the early 1990’s Georgia was able to evolve. Zeier is still one of the best passers in SEC history and there’s a case to be made that he’s the best quarterback to ever play at Georgia.
The nineties also brought the first superstar and big-play receivers to Georgia. Juan Daniels, Brice Hunter, Andre Hastings, Hines Ward, Corey Allen and Terrance Edwards all arrived in Athens during the 1990’s.
Georgia might not have won as much as we would have liked them to in the 1990’s. But the program evolved and kept themselves from being left behind in the period of change.
