3. 2000’s (98-31-0)

The decade that could have and probably should have been no. 1 on this list. But lack of a national title and only two SEC titles hold it back.

Georgia began the decade by ending the Jim Donnan era and has immediate success in the Mark Richt era with a 13-1 SEC Championship season in 2002. Over the next three seasons, Georgia won two SEC East titles and another SEC Championship.

It was at this time when Georgia had their second three-time All-American in David Pollack. But after Pollack, David Greene, D.J. Shockley, Thomas Davis and co. time was up, championships became hard to come by.

The closest the Dawgs came was 2007 when the BCS formula chose to send LSU to the National Championship game over Georgia despite the Bulldogs being on a 6-0 stretch while the Tigers ended the year on a 5-2 run.

The rest of the decade was a disappointment, but as a whole, the 2000’s was one of the best decades in Georgia football history.
