The Georgia Football team got a commitment last night, one that it very much needed for its 2018 class.

A lot has been written the past few months about Georgia Football’s 2018 recruiting struggles. After last week’s decommitment from Donovan Georges, UGA only had 2 commitments. That changed on Wednesday when 3-star defensive end Jaevon Becton announced his decision to head to Athens.

Becton is a rather under the radar prospect. He’s only a 3-star player and one who is currently not ranked in the nations top 800. He does have some big offers however, including Clemson and Tennessee alongside UGA. He’s a pretty raw prospect but his highlight videos show that he’s a player with great athleticism. He is not a highly ranked immediate impact player, but he’s someone Trey Scott will likely enjoy developing.

Georgia is going to be heavily pushing for quite a few defensive linemen after last years class. Becton is one of several high upside projects that Georgia could take in this class. He’s someone who could end up with a few more offers closer to the end of his recruitment process. The fact that his offer from Georgia was commit-able could interest other schools and a big senior season will likely see his stock rise.

Next: Brice Ramsey returning to UGA for final year.

While it might not be a big time signing, its a step in the right direction for this 2018 class. Hoepfully June will see a good deal more signings as the class starts to build itself.
