The “Great Granite Dawg” is located near the end zone where the Dawgs take the field. It is a 4 ft. high granite bulldog that came from nearby Elberton (the granite capital of the world) in Elbert County. Elbert County is the home of current Dawg Mecole Hardman and current Dawn of the Dawg writer, me. The 2 ton granite dog was presented by the Elbert County Bulldog Club in 1992 to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of UGA football.
