Becton looks like an OLB in the current Georgia system. Standing 6-4 and 230lbs, he’s probably not big enough yet to imagine being put on the line and put his hand in the ground. He does have very exciting athleticism and his highlight videos really show a player with some explosive ability.

He comes from the Virginia Beach area. This is the same place that produced uber athletes Michael Vick and Alan Iverson although Becton shouldn’t be confused as that type of prospect. He’s not playing the highest level of competition but Virginia still continues to produce solid players.

One of the reason Kirby Smart brought in Shane Beamer was to succeed in this particular recruiting ground. Becton is a good start. It will be interesting to see if Beamer can build on this win going forward and continue to achieve success in his fathers old stomping ground. Kirby seems to demand recruiting success and while VA might not have Georgia’s depth, there is always some top talent there. UGA will be hoping Beamer can continue to pull top talent out of the state to Athens in the future.
