The Georgia Bulldogs quest for at least one NCAA title this season fell short this weekend. The field and track team ended up finishing second in the national championships, behind favorites and hosts Oregon. Dawgnation.com’s Chip Towers reported just how close the final scores were. Oregon needed to win the very final event to take the crown. Any other result would have given UGA the crown.

Unfortunately the ducks won the ladies 4×400 relay to win the crown. It’s a big blow for Georgia as the program finishes off the academic year with no NCAA titles. That being said, this particular dawgs team can hold their heads high. This is only the second year head coach Petros Kyprianou has been in charge. He’s clearly sent out a marker that Georgia will be competing for titles in the coming years.
