Breaking down Justin Fields.

Fields is a player who has exploded on the recruiting scene in the past 6 months. He was a good looking dual threat last December when UGA offered him. Soon after that he committed to Penn State but he has torn up the camp circuit this spring and summer. He’s now the #3 overall player in the nation according to the 247 composite rankings. That’s a huge jump considering he hasn’t played a game during this time period.

The hype is probably well founded though. Everyone agrees Fields has taken huge steps in his game. While he’s unlikely to beat out Lawrence for the #1 QB of the class title, he’s come a lot closer to him then people expected. Put simply, he has really developed as a passer and his athleticism is elite. Add onto that the fact that he is a very intelligent player and you have everything you could want in a QB.

Throw in the fact that he’s a local boy and basically he’s the dream for UGA. Missing on Lawrence was tough, but getting Fields would be a dream scenario. He looks like he could be a Deshaun Watson type of player. Georgia missed on Watson under Mark Richt, if Smart could land Fields, he could change the program. Don’t expect UGA’s current QB’s to scare him either. He would be the only dual threat of the bunch and he believes in himself. Should he pick UGA, the talent in Georgia’s QB room would be insane.
