Georgia football players for the NFL: Nick Chubb
By Mike Stowe
Chubb in 2017
Look for a Nick Chubb that is 100% this year and is one of the top backs in the country. He will be much closer to the Chubb of 2014. He will have to split carries with fellow senior back Sony Michel, but a 1,300-plus-yard season is still very realistic.
An entire off-season of intense work outs and weight training, the improvement in year two of Sam Pittman’s offensive line and the maturation of sophomore quarterback Jacob Eason will help him look more like the pre injury Chubb.
Even in an NFL that doesn’t put as much value on backs as it once did and a running back rich 2018 draft class with the likes of LSU running back Derrius Guice, Penn State’s Saquon Barkley, and Alabama’s Bo Scarborough, this should still be enough to make Chubb an early to mid second rounder.
If Georgia can have a truly special season, that will mean Chubb has had a historic season. Another 1,500-plus-yard performance could get him invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony and catapult him into the late 1st round.
