Georgia Baseball got some good news with one of it’s new incoming Freshmen.

Cam Shepherd has been named a Freshman All-American  by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball. Sheppard started all 57 games for the Dawgs at the shortstop position.

Shepherd graduated from Peachtree Ridge class of 2016. He was rated the number 2 shortstop in Georgia, and the number 73 player in the nation. He was a 29th round pick for the Red Sox, but chose to enroll at UGA.

Shepherd batted .307 with 5 homeruns and 28 RBI.

Georgia went 25-32 last year, but the Dawgs have a lot of talent coming back for Coach Stricklin. Sheppard could be the catalyst to this Georgia team that will hopefully be geared up for a postseason berth. The dawgs have another solid recruiting class joining them this year, so hopefully this should be the year they turn the corner. If not, coach Scott Strickin will likely see the exit.
