The so called ‘Silent Commitments’.

One of the rumors that has started to spread a bit about UGA is that there are several so called ‘silent commitments’ out there. This is hardly a new thing. Players quite often tell coaches they are coming to a school and then change their mind. If players can flip from publicly made statements, its not hard for them to do it when they haven’t publicly committed.

That being said, there has been several things said recently to make fans feel like those players are out there. Chris Smith said something interesting to Jeff Sentell on Saturday:

"“I also think we’ve got a few in the door,” Smith said. “I don’t know. We’ve got a few that like to play around but I am just out here trying to work and to have fun. But I am definitely in some people’s ears trying to make sure we can get some really good guys in the door.”"

Smith was touching on not only how he’s still pushing certain key prospects, but also how there are several who have told him they are going to UGA, but they are just no public about it. Kearis Jackson is a name often mentioned about being a silent commit. He’s been tearing it up at camp this weekend and looks really impressive.

Silent commitments are a risky thing. Nobody really knows what a recruit is going to do until they sign and a behind the scenes promise isn’t really worth much in this environment. But Smith confirmed that those players are out there. It’s just up to our coaches to finish the job off and make them officially join the dawgs.
