2013: no. 11 Georgia beats no. 6 South Carolina 41 – 30

Oh Steve Spurrier. How you loved to beat Georgia. How you loved to ruin our seasons whether it was in Florida or South Carolina. Then again, I take a good deal of pleasure knowing that we took the SEC East away from you in 2013. All of that happened because of the second game of the season that year, and what a game it was.

Georgia went in as underdogs, but what we witnessed was a vintage performance from Aaron Murray. One of his very best in a dawg uniform. He didn’t throw the ball very much, but completed 17 of 23 passes for 309 yards. He also threw for 4 touchdowns and Todd Gurley did Todd Gurley things and ran for 132 yards. Murray’s signature play that day was when he escaped from Jadaveon Clowney with 13 minutes left and threw an 85 yard touchdown to Justin Scott-Wesley.

That wasn’t even the best moment of the 4th quarter though. That was when SC were stuffed on the UGA 1 yard line on the following drive. Murray and the Georgia offense then held onto the ball for more than 8 minutes to run out the clock. God it was good watching Spurrier and SC fans go nuts on the sideline. Totally and utterly helpless, unable to even get the ball back. It was a dominant victory and one that felt so good against a man who caused Georgia fans so much heartbreak over the years.
