2014: no. 12 Georgia Beats no. 16 Clemson 45 – 21

Now I know I just said there is nothing sweeter then ruining Florida’s season. But if you’ve read any of my previous pieces, you will likely have noticed a somewhat recurring theme.

I HATE CLEMSON.

I have never forgiven them for the opening day loss they gave to us at the beginning of the 2013 season. After the heartbreak of losing to ‘Bama, I really did think that was going to be our year, and it was totally undone in the very first game. We were snake bitten that season. Players were dropping like flies; Auburn beat us after that ridiculous tip play. That season was physically painful to me. I have also convinced myself that all of it was Clemson’s fault.

Imagine then, my excitement to get that same team in the very first game of the following season. I don’t think I have ever been more pumped off for a season to start, or more nervous that everything was going to go wrong. AGAIN. Instead, I was treated to the Todd Gurley show in what was one of the few times, I have ever witnessed an individual player win a football game.

Gurley was unstoppable that day. He ran around Clemson, past them, through them, he just destroyed them and I wanted them to be destroyed. He ran for 198 yards, 3 touchdowns and returned a kickoff 100 yards for another TD. It wasn’t just him either. It was our first ever Nick Chubb sighting and he ran for a 47 TD that started his career.

Next: Top UGA record that may never be broken

As a relatively young fan, I have never been able to enjoy any championship moments as a UGA fan, not yet anyway. For me, this was the happiest I have ever felt watching a football game.

Everything about this game was wonderful. Everything.
