1. Nick Fitzgerald

This is the guy I see on Georgia’s schedule with the highest ceiling. One thing Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has been known for in his coaching career has been quarterback development. And that’s exactly what he’s succeeded at once again with Fitzgerald.

He was only a 3-star coming out of high school and not pursued by a lot of big schools. Mullen pursued the kid out of Richmond Hill, Georgia and signed him. Taking over for Dak Prescott was no small feat, but Fitzgerald did well with the task.

He joined an elite club of SEC quarterbacks to rush for over 900 yards and pass for over 2,000 yards in a season. This short list includes Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, Jalen Hurts, and fellow Mississippi State phenom Dan Prescott.

Look for Fitzgerald to be as good or better in 2017. If he were on a better team, this kid would be a Heisman contender. Check out his highlights below. He can beat teams with his arm and his legs and is deceptively fast. The match-up of the Bulldogs will take place on September 23, and luckily UGA gets Mississippi State between the hedges.

It will be interesting to see how Georgia prepares for a dual threat quarterback the caliber of Fitzgerald. He is the kind of player that the Dawgs defense will have to contain if they do win the East and face Alabama in Atlanta.
