What do they do well:

That’s a pretty good question. With a brand new QB and two new coordinators, nobody really knows exactly what the Irish do well. It is likely that they will be very good at running the ball. They have a tremendous interior offensive line and that will go right up against UGA’s strength on the defensive line. Their strong belief in the Notre Dame fanbase their their new QB Brandon Wimbush is going to break out this year. The limited action he has had so far has shown a player with impressive athleticism. There’s a good chance that this could improve the running game. Defenses will have to figure out who is carrying the ball which is never easy.

Speaking of Wimbush, there’s a good chance that the Irish’s season rests on his shoulders. I have seen opinion pieces about how he is a Heisman candidate. It should be mentioned that our friends at ‘Slap the Sign’ are really high on Wimbush. They see him as one of the top QB’s in the NCAA even though he is yet to start. It’s a very strong stance but they could be right. He certainly has the talent to be special. That being said, I have yet to see Brian Kelly really maximize the talent of any Notre Dame QB so I remain skeptical. One thing that is certain is that Equanimeous St. Brown is a seriously good wide receiver. Wimbush will at least have a go to guy to throw to no matter what.

Lastly, in terms of defense, the Irish have a strong secondary. They threw several freshmen to the lions last year because of injuries and they held up. Players such as Julian Love and Tony Pride Jr could all become solid starters after 2016. In fairness, they will likely need that, because when we get to the next page, the rest of their defense is a problem.
