Georgia Football: Why the Notre Dame game is important

On September 9, Georgia football travels to South Bend, Indiana to play Notre Dame for just the second time ever.

Barring an unforeseen nightmare against Appalachian State, the Georgia football team will head into its second game of 2017 with a 1-0 record against Notre Dame on September 9th. Georgia football fans have long circled this game on the calendar.

But with Notre Dame having a 4-8 season last year, the buzz around the game seems to have dropped off a bit in some circles. There are a few reasons why this game arguably could be Georgia’s most important game of the 2017 season.
