With the season inching closer, I’m going to preview each of the 12 games Georgia Football will have in 2017.

Georgia Football goes into week 6 with a need to right a wrong from 2016. The Vanderbilt Commadors came into Sanford Stadium last year and shocked the Bulldogs. Georgia needs to get some revenge against them in 2017. This is the definition of a must win game for Kirby Smart and his coaches. However, it will not be an easy game, Vanderbilt are improving under Derek Mason. So lets dive in to our breakdown.

Who were they in 2016?

The Commodores had a really solid 2016. Never expected to be a top team in a brutal SEC, they put together a really solid year. The team ended up winning 6 games for the first time under head coach Derek Mason. Three of those wins were against SEC teams with much bigger profiles than them. I don’t particularly want to revisit their win over the Bulldogs in October. The one thing that should make dawg fans feel a bit better is the fact that two other big schools had their doors blown off by Vanderbilt as the season came to an end.

Ole Miss went into the season as the nations #11 ranked side and with SEC West aspirations. Injuries and some tough losses meant their season got away from them. However, nobody was expecting Vanderbilt to handily beat them 38-17 in a one sided encounter. It wasn’t just Ole Miss either. Tennessee were the presumptive favorites for the SEC East last year. Vanderbilt beat the Vols by 10 points in the final game of the regular season.

The fact that the Commodores were put to the sword by NC State in their bowl game doesn’t really matter. 3 high profile SEC programs that were all highly ranked at one point last season. All beaten by Vanderbilt. All in one year. That’s a pretty successful season if you ask anyone who watches college football.
