Georgia Football: The Return of Nick Chubb
Georgia football fans have enjoyed watching Nick Chubb for three years, but the power back from Cedartown may be saving his best year for last.
Georgia football fans and the college football world witnessed something incredible yesterday. UGA star running back Nick Chubb, less than 2 years from a horrific knee injury suffered in 2015, squatted 600 pounds in a Monday morning weight room session.
Per Kirby Smart’s Twitter account, the Bulldogs were setting some personal maxes yesterday during their weight room training. It’s safe to say Chubb did not disappoint.
Chubb, a longtime freak in the weight room, appears to be well on his way to having a successful 2017 season. Chubb shocked everybody when he was able to come back in 2016 from one of the worst injuries in recent college football memory.
While he managed to rush for over 1,100 yards last season, many feel that he never was truly 100%.
Every report that has been written since the spring indicates that Chubb is truly back to his old self this year and that we will see him resembling his 2014 and early 2015 form.
Chubb has had his share of doubters during his college football career, and he has proved them all wrong.
The critics said he couldn’t pick up the slack when Todd Gurley was suspended in 2014. Wrong. They said he wouldn’t play against North Carolina in 2016. Wrong. Some even said he’d never even play football again after his injury. Wrong again.
