Georgia football: 10 things to do at your tailgate
By Mike Stowe
4. It’s game day.
Normal drinking rules don’t apply. If you are partaking in adult beverages, you can get away with things on game day that would have your family arranging an intervention for you on the Dr. Phil show if you do them throughout the rest of the year.
If you’re sipping a Beam and Coke and/or a Bud Light at 9:30 in the morning on East Campus Road on a Dawg football Saturday, you’re perfectly normal. Pace yourself for those 3:30 and night games, though. A “lil dranky drank” is nice, if you do it the right way.

Missing the game because you’re face down in a pool of your own filth and self pity is not so nice. And in the age of smartphones and social media, it’s a great way to become the wrong type of “online famous” when your picture inevitably gets snapped.
5. If you’re running the grill, understand the responsibility
If you love grilling at home for your family, that’s awesome. But does your family have 30 barking, hungry Dawg fans there every time you cook? If you are going to cook, make sure you pay attention and don’t burn up the groceries. Remember, a hungry Dawg is the most likely to bite.
6. Play different kinds of music.
You may enjoy hearing Luke Bryan sing about trucks, beer, and boom boom. Not everyone else does though. Mix your playlist up a little. A little rock, a little country, even a little hip hop. A diverse playlist can take a decent or good tailgate and make it great.
7. Have something to do that keeps folks up and moving and something that keeps them entertained.
Tossing the football, dancing, and my personal favorite, cornhole (some call it bean bag toss). It’s also great to have a TV with College Game Day and other football games on if possible. Always have something going on that will keep you and your fellow tailgaters having fun.
