Georgia Football 2017 Preview: South Carolina Gamecocks

What do they do well:

Jake Bentley certainly has the hype. This off season, there have been a lot of commentators all over college football talking him up. Former Alabama standout Greg McElroy raved about him, saying that to him, Bentley is far better than UGA’s Jacob Eason. Bentley did impress during his half season in 2016. He threw for 1420 yards and a 65% completion rate in his 7 games. His 9-4 TD to INT ratio were also pretty impressive.

South Carolina are expecting Bentley to really step it up in 2017. They really will need to if they are going to be able to bring in a winning season. In many ways, the 2017 season really hangs on Bentley. If he takes a big jump and lives up to the hype, there’s a good chance that SC could achieve some big upsets. If he still needs more time to grow, this could end up being a worse season than they saw last year. SC had a pretty poor offense for much as last year and they will need to take a step forward in this regards in 2017. Bentley is a hot name right now. If he can prove that he’s actually worth all the hype, this offense could be dangerous.
