3: How good do the running backs look?

With Zamir White committing to UGA a month ago, Georgia continues its tradition of being ‘RBU’. Now that the season is here, we can get back to watching two of the finest RB’s fans have seen in some time. Sony Michel and Nick Chubb both choose to return for their senior season. Both of them could have gone to the NFL and be getting paid right now. However, their decision to finish out their careers at UGA could make the legends to fans.

There’s a good chance when this season is over, both of them are in the top 4 of RB’s in terms of production at UGA. Chubb will be chasing Hershel Walker for the #1 spot and although he’s unlikely to get there, that just shows the kind of company these guys are in. Both of them had injuries last year but are fully healthy this year. Camp should be where we get to see glimpses of how good they can be.

Behind those two are three players who are battling it out for playing time. Brian Herrian won the #3 job last year after an injury to Elijah Holyfield. Holyfield looked great in the spring but has to stay healthy. Freshman D’Andre Swift is a real talent. I’m incredibly excited to see the impact he has in camp. I think he’s going to force coaches to find a way to put him on the field each week.
