1: The offensive line HAS to improve.

As good as the receivers, RB’s and the quarterbacks could be this year, nothing will matter if the offensive line does not improve. Last years unit was outmatched in almost every game and their performances were just not good enough. They were pushed around by Nichols State (ARGHHH) and bullied when they played decent teams. Jacob Eason had no time in the pocket and the RB’s always had tacklers in the backfield. That has to change in 2017 for the results to improve.

Fortunately, there is a lot of new blood that has come into the program this year. The 2017 signing class included some top flight players who should be pushing for playing time. Tackles Isaiah Wilson and Andrew Thomas are names to watch out for. Both could seriously push to start at either tackle position. Guards Netori Johnson and Justin Schaffer should also be watched. All of these 4 have the capability to make the starting 5 at some point this season.

Reshirted Freshman Ben Cleveland is another player to watch. He’ a huge man and he could make a real impact on the interior if he plays. I’m going to watching to see if he can hold down a starting guard spot. If he can, I think that’s a good sign for how the line will play this year.
