Georgia Football 2017 Season Preview: Kentucky Wildcats
How does 2017 stack up:
Kentucky return a decent amount of their 2016 team into the new season. They return a lot of their most talented weapons on the offensive side of the ball including their quarterback. Going into last season, this was a position of some uncertainty. Stephen Johnson has stepped in a filled that spot really well and going into his senior year should have a better year than last year.
What should excite Kentucky fans is that they are not reliant on Johnson. Drew Baker was the starter at the beginning of last year before a back injury took him out for the season. Johnson stepped in and won, but he is not the only QB on the team. That level of depth is not something a lot of SEC programs have at footballs most important position. It should ensure that whoever is playing better will end up on the field.
They have shaken up their coaching staff a bit in the past couple of years. They are one of several teams that have 2 offensive coordinators and they were both appointed at the beginning of last season. Kentucky also have a new defensive coordinator this season Matt House. House did the same job at Pittsburgh for a few years. Stoops will be hoping that these changes sync well with this years team.
