Defensive front looks impressive.

As said previously, one of the reasons it’s tough to figure out how bad the OL is in practice is because of how good the defensive front 7 is. I don’t think this can be overstated. This years UGA defense looks awesome. That front 7 looks like a wrecking crew that is going to demolish a lot of teams this year. Trent Thompson is still coming back from injury, but he’s probably the only one who didn’t look better than last year.

I’ve had his name on my ‘players to watch out for’ list for a while, but trust me, Johnathan Ledbetter is for real. The guy manhandled 300lb linemen like it was nothing. He beat them with speed and power. He’s going to have an incredible season. The linebacking corp also looks down right scary. Somehow, Roquan Smith looks even better than last year. He’s put on weight. Good weight. He’s also keep all of his speed and explosion. If he stays healthy, I legitimately think he’s going to be the best ILB in the SEC this year, no doubt in my mind.

Natrez Patrick isn’t far behind though and he’s going to be blitzed more than last year. Finally, Lorenzo Carter might have finally figured out this whole football thing. He’s always been an elite athlete but there’s a good chance that this year, he blows up. He looked fantastic and if he carries that through the season, this defense is going to be insane.
