How does 2017 stack up:

The Triple Option that Johnson runs can be incredibly difficult to stop. However it absolutely depends on a solid QB to run it. Last year, they had 3 year starter Justin Thomas in his final year run the show. Thomas was incredibly efficient in the offense because he was so comfortable with it. This year, Matthew Jordan is the presumed successor but he has not played much in the system. He’s a redshirted Junior who played in some redzone situations last year.

However, Jordan was injured in spring training and is still making his way back form that.  Because of this, TaQuon Marshall could end up winning the starting job. He’s a more explosive athlete than Jordan but is pretty new to the position and isn’t much of a threat with his arm. Of course by the time UGA plays Tech, whoever is QB should be firmly entrenched. There is no doubt however that the position is not as solid as it was last year.

Tech returns plenty of other players and this is a relatively veteran team  much like UGA. That is particularly the case on the offensive side of the ball. They have a decent set of weapons and an offensive line that gelled last season.
