Isaiah Wynn absent from practice

Isaiah Wynn, one of the likely starters of Georgia’s offensive line hasn’t seen the field all week long. That’s because the big guy’s been sick according to Kirby Smart.

Wynn has been a starter at Georgia for two years now as a left guard, but he was moved to left tackle this spring because it’s a better fit for him. Wynn was originally moved to left tackle late last season however, and Georgia’s offensive line played much better with him there. So you can see why Wynn missing any extended time is a big deal.

Senior Dyshon Sims has been filling Wynn’s spot in practice. So at least Georgia is working an experienced player at left tackle.

As of writing this, Wynn is yet to return, and Smart is yet to specify what kind of illness he’s suffering. But defensive linemen Michail Carter and Jonathan Ledbetter have also succumbed to illnesses in recent days.

It’s not yet clear if all three players are suffering the same illness, or if Smart just uses illness as an umbrella term for any ailment that he doesn’t want to tell the media about.
