What’s going on with the Offensive Line.

Isaiah Wynn sat out the scrimmage with the same illness that kept him out the rest of the week. That meant that once again on Saturday, Adnrew Thomas and Ben Cleveland got some time with the 1st team. These are two players that fans are really hoping are able to step in and find some playing time this year. There is no doubt that the line was a huge problem last year and new blood is going to be needed to step in and improve play.

Cleveland and Thomas both offer a lot more size then we saw last year. Cleveland is a massive man, coming in at about 6-4 and nearly 350lbs. I’d be shocked if any of that was fat to be honest, he looks like the kind of player who is just made out of granite. He does however lack the technique and ‘bed’ necessary in an SEC offensive lineman. If he can ever get that worked out, there is a great chance that he becomes a feature on the line. It should also be remembered that he is yet to turn 19 despite going into his second year. He still has plenty of time to get better.

Andrew Thomas is on the other side of the spectrum to Cleveland. A true Freshman, he came in at 6-5 300lbs with a need to put on weight and get stronger. However, he’s a real technician and that is why he’s currently playing ahead of other freshman tackle Isaiah Wilson. I think there’s a really solid chance he could start the first game somewhere on the line and will eventually be a top flight left tackle for UGA.
