Georgia Football: Devonte Wyatt on his path to Georgia.
Georgia Football fans will have to wait a little longer than they hoped to see Devonte Wyatt. But he’s pushing hard to get to Athens.

When Devonte Wyatt committed to UGA this February a lot of fans were excited. There are not many 300lb men who can run a 40 yard dash in 4.6 seconds. He’s a unique physical specimen and while he might be raw, the potential is there. However, Wyatt was the only player in the #3 ranked 2017 recruiting class who did not qualify to enroll for the Georgia Football program this fall.
Dawgnation.com’s reporter Jeff Sentell had the first interview with Wyatt since he missed the enrollment. He has recently enrolled in Hutchinson Community College and told Sentell that the plan is for him to get the grades he needs so that he can enroll in Athens in January.
"“They said just the first semester,” Wyatt said. “If I do well the first semester, then I will be coming back and enrolling in January.” His target is clear. He needs to raise his grade-point average up to a 2.8 by recording a 3.0 this semester in two courses. He is taking Mathematics and English at Hutchinson in order to do so. “I’m going to get that,” Wyatt said. “Either two ‘As’ or two ‘Bs’ or an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ but I am going to get there. I am going to get it. I have got to get it.”"
Wyatt also told Sentell that he’s not planning on opening up his recruitment. He’s felt supported by UGA throughout this challenge and still hears from defensive coordinator Mel Tucker and D-line coach Tray Scott often. Wyatt was the only DT that Georgia signed in last years class so he was an important member of the class. It was really disappointing that he was unable to join his classmates in August. However, it’s also very encouraging to see him work so hard to make it to Athens next year. It’s equally impressive to see him still so committed to the G. It’s hard not to root for the guy.
