Opening day for Georgia Football is just over a week away and the offensive line competition seems to coming to a close.

As the training sessions come to an end, Georgia Football seems to be settling on it’s offensive line. Seth Emerson of Dawgnation.com has reported there currently seem to be 4 spots that are settled for the opener against Appalachian State. Isaiah Wynn is the starting left tackle. Pat Allen seems to be back holding down the left guard spot since Wynn returned. Lamont Gaillard has held onto the center position all off season. Solomon Kindley remains at right guard, a spot he has held since the spring. So it’s just the right tackle spot that is currently up for grabs.

Right now, there are two young players battling out for this spot. True freshman Andrew Thomas has made a big impact during this camp. He first came into the line when Wynn was injured the other week and took the left guard spot. With Wynn now back, Pat Allen has returned to that spot and Thomas has been playing at right tackle. He is fighting Ben Cleveland who seems to have improved a good amount since last season. Cleveland has started to see more reps with the first team this year. As a very young redshirted freshman, like Thomas, he is yet to turn 19.

Isaiah Wilson is currently running at left tackle with the 2’s and the freshmen guards Netori Johnson and Justin Schaffer are currently battling it out for the 4th guard spot. All of this could change as the season goes on. There is no doubt that these young players have a lot of talent and are pushing for spots. It will be interesting to see when they are ready to start next to whoever wins the right tackle battle.
