Georgia Football will have a chance to impress one of it’s most important targets for the 2018 class.

Jamaree Salyer is the definition of a ‘big’ human being. Already standing 6-4 and 350lbs despite only being 17, it’s pretty clear that he’s a unique prospect. But Salyer is more than just his size, he is the highest rated interior line prospect since the internet rankings started. He doesn’t just beat opponents with his size. Technically, he’s incredibly sound and he looks like someone who will play on Sundays. That’s why he is a top target for the Georgia Football team’s 2018 recruiting class.

He plays at Pace Academy and is best friends with current UGA freshman Andrew Thomas. The two of them formed a devastating left side of the OL last year. Thomas has been lights out since arriving in Athens. He is currently holding the starting right tackle job and it looks like one way or another, he is going to start against App. State next week. Salyer is hoping to be there for that moment.

Sayler often attended UGA games last year with Thomas and so he told Dawgnation’s Jeff Sentell that he will be in Sanford Stadium next weekend to watch his friend.

"“I’ll be in Athens,” Salyer said. “I want to see ‘Drew’ play in his first college game.”"

He is also planning on taking his first official visit of the year up to Notre Dame for week two. There he will see the fighting Irish play UGA in a highly anticipated game. This means that a player who might well be UGA’s #1 target right now, will be at their first 2 games. Sentell gave a great roundup of where Salyer’s recruiting sits right now how UGA is trying to make him a priority that is well worth a read!

Why this matters:

Salyer is going to be a huge asset to whatever team he plays for. He’s a special talent who could end up starting on day 1 just like Thomas. He is also exactly the kind of player Sam Pittman wants to coach. Sentell has often said that winning his signature might be more important that anyone in the 2018 class. Guards like him are extremely rare. He would help set the table for what the offense can do over the next few years.

Salyer is one of those few players who will likely be a first round NFL pick wherever he plays. He is looking for a school that can develop him and make him better as well as provide him with a strong education. Sam Pittman is one of the best in the business and it will mean a lot of Salyer to see his best friend making an impact at UGA on day 1. If Thomas plays well and UGA is able to beat Notre Dame in South Bend, that would be a huge statement to Salyer. He can see just how this program is changing and how he can be a part of it.

Kirby Smart has made it clear that he wants to build a line that terrifies Georgia’s opponents. Salyer has all the talent to be the very best player they will have signed yet on the line. Considering the talent that is currently in Athens right now, that’s a scary player. It’s also one that this team needs to impress in those first two weeks.
