Georgia Football: Who could start for Malkom Parrish at DB?
J.R. Reed.
Reed has been one of the biggest surprises of camp this year. He transferred in from Tulsa last year and so had to sit out the 2016 season. Because of that, the coaching staff never really gave his the look they did other players as they instead focused on those who could help them that year. He is the older cousin of DeAngelo Gibbs and several sources thought that he was given a spot to try and secure Gibbs’ recruitment.
However, Reed has had a huge impact this summer. Kirby Smart has raved about him in numerous press conferences and he has been pushing for a starting spot all camp. A redshirted sophomore, he is roughly the same size as Davis and looks like someone who could hold down the safety spot is Davis moves to corner. For several weeks, he has actually been playing at safety while Davis has been playing the ‘star’ role.
It’s going to be really exciting to see him for the first time next week. I’m really intrigued to see what all the fuss has been about during camp and I fully expect him to be in that starting lineup one way or another.
