Georgia Football: Who could start for Malkom Parrish at DB?
DeAngelo Gibbs.
Gibbs really doesn’t look like a freshman. He stepped onto the practice field back in January as an early enrollee and looked like he’d been in a college weight program for about 2 years. Put simply, the guy is jacked. He started in spring camp rolling with the 1st team in the star position. This is a roll that a lot of people felt Richard Lecounte would will, but Gibbs got the early run.
He looked really impressive and he’s continued to impress as camp went on. He has however, seen some players start to catch up with him so he’s no guarantee to start. He’s an athletic freak, who could be a star in the secondary or at wide receiver and long terms should be a huge part of a dominant defense.
Star does seem to be the position he will see if he plays this season. Long term I think he will probably end up as a dominant safety but he’ll bring a physical presence to the middle of the field in the Nickel in 2017.
