Ameer Speed.

Speed is probably the most tantalizing physical prospect in the secondary right now. Standing 6-3 and 211lbs, he has incredibly long arms and fluid hips. He’s the player on the roster right now who is most likely to become a shutdown corner. If he ever figures out the complexities of the position, he could be incredible.

CB is one of the most complicated position to learn but Speed has good coaches. You’d be hard pressed to find 2 people who know more about the secondary than Kirby Smart and Mel Tucker. His length and size means that there is a chance he finds his way onto the field in certain sets. Physically I can’t imagine any other corner who can stand up against St. Brown better than Speed.

That being said, throwing in a freshman against a future 1st rounder is probably a recipe for disaster. He’s much more likely to get burned than he is make a big time play. I’d be shocked to see him take the field in the first half of the season. But I understand why so many people are talking about him.
