Georgia Football: How Jacob Eason needs to improve in 2017.
Improved Accuracy.
This is the clear area that Eason has to work on in 2017. In his freshman campaign, he completed just 55% of his passes, a number that has to improve on. If UGA is going to become a more efficient offense this year, that number is going to need to be up around 60%. That’s a big jump but it is one that would make a huge difference as it would give Georgia a legitimate passing game that would need to be game-planned for.
That 55% number is in some ways deceptive as well. There were several games where he was a lot worse than that. Against Florida and Ole’ Miss, he was at 45% and those were not his worst games. Against South Carolina, he only completed 5 of 17 passes for a completion % of less than 30%. That is barely functional at any level. Eason simply cannot have any more games like that in 2017, they can cost teams games.
While he had receivers drop balls, most of the misses that Eason made last year, were nowhere near his intended target. There were numerous times when he threw the ball a long way away from guys who were open and that simply has to change in 2017. If he gives his receivers at least a chance to make a play, that % should improve overall.
