Find the open receiver.

One of the main reason Eason’s accuracy suffered last year, was that he never saw some open receivers. This is one of those things that never show up on the stat sheet, but if you watched the games, Eason could be infuriating. He often locked in on receivers who were well covered and tried to make difficult throws and ignored other who were uncovered.

It’s a classic mistake that you can expect from freshmen with Eason’s talent. Coming from high school football in Washington state, he’s used to being the best guy on the field. With an arm like his, he thinks he can make every throw. More often than not, he probably can. But good QB’s at this level don’t do that. They find the right player on the play and make the right decision.

Georgia is going to have a lot more talent at WR this year than it did in 2016. Almost every play, they should be able to find a mismatch somewhere on the field. Eason has to be able to keep his eyes up and find that open man in 2017. Of course, it would help if the offenseive line can give him more time last year to make those decisions. That however is a another article…
