Hit the deep ball.

For a big armed QB, Jacob Eason sure wasn’t good throwing the deep ball in 2016. Despite having probably the biggest arm in the SEC, UGA ranked only 11th in the SEC in terms of passing plays over 20 yards. The main reason for this wasn’t because Eason didn’t have the arm to hit the big plays. It was because the further he threw, the worse his accuracy became.

That’s an issue for a player with Eason’s skillset. His arm strength is one of the things that separated him from most other players and he can make throws others simply cannot. But he has to be able to actually find those players. With the arm strength that he has, if he can hit those receivers, he will completely change this offense.

With the running backs that Georgia has this year, opposing teams are going to stack the box. However, if Eason can hit the deep ball with regularity, teams are going to have to change their game plan. Stacking the box against a big armed QB who can hit receivers in their stride is a recipe for disaster. Considering how dangerous UGA’s running backs are, just imagine how big it would be for the offense as a whole if Eason’s arm can pull 1 defender out of the box on each play.
