Isaiah Wynn.

Wynn is one of those players who as a fan, it’s easy to bash. He was hardly great last year playing at left guard and when you see his measurements, it’s easy to worry. The fact that he stands just 6-2 and played at less than 300lbs last year was cause for concern. That is simply not big enough to play the style of football Kirby Smart wants from his linemen. It also makes him much smaller than everybody Smart and his offensive line coach Sam Pittman has recruited since they arrived. He is, in short, a relic of a different era.

That being said, he might just be the most important player on the offensive line. That’s because, despite his size, he remains the leader of this offensive line unit. Technically, he is the best linemen of the bunch and he worked hard this offseason to get his weight up and over 300lbs. There is nothing he can do about his physical limitations, but his technique keeps him in battles.

He is the one lineman who is at least consistent on every play. He rarely makes a mistake and that’s why he is protecting Jacob Eason’s blindside. To me, he is a more natural guard and probably will be at the next level. But his consistency is why he remains at left tackle this season. If he can be a league average player at that position, there is a good chance this unit is much better this year. If not, they might have to start juggling around the line mid-season and that should worry fans.
