Jake Fromm

I mentioned Fromm in the top performers article early this morning and I started by saying that Fromm deserves criticism. That story wasn’t the time for the criticism, but now is the perfect time.

More from Dawn of the Dawg

Yes Fromm was a good leader and managed the offense very well, but he has to be more careful with the ball. He threw five terrible passes that would have been turnovers against a better team. On his first bad pass, he was lucky that Javon Wims noticed it was under-thrown before the defense.

His very next throw was supposed to go out-of-bounds but he threw it well short. Fortunately, Deandre Swift was right there to make the catch. On the next play, he tossed another across the field that was supposed to go out. Instead it stayed in catchable range. There, Terry Godwin was present and he drew a pass interference call.

Then twice in the game, he rocketed a pass to a dangerous spot and the receiver made just enough contact for the ball to fall incomplete. People get on to Jacob Eason for over-throwing passes, but under-throwing balls is way more dangerous. If Fromm wants to hold down the starting job, he’s going to need to take better care of the ball.
