Nick Chubb and Sony Michel

Last but not least are the tanks that Georgia’s offense will be riding onto battle each week. Neither rushed for 100 yards but they didn’t need to. Chubb rushed for 96 yards on only 15 carries with two touchdowns. Michel added 84 on 16 carries for one score.

That’s over five yards per carries for both guys, but each had their big runs that we’ve come to expect from them. The offensive line did not look great, and when Georgia didn’t run the hurry-up-offense, Chubb and Michel struggled to fund holes.

But when the offense went up-tempo, the gaps for the duo were wide open and they took advantage. Some fans had to be expecting a letdown similar to what we saw against Nicholls last year, but no such thing happened. And that’s mostly because of what Chubb and Michel did.

Clearly, some improvement has been made up front. That doesn’t bode well for everyone Georgia plays after Appalachian State.
