Georgia basketball: Dawgs get first commitment of 2018 class
The Georgia basketball team made headlines Sunday by picking up their first commitment for the 2018 recruiting class.
The Georgia football team wasn’t the only team on campus to deliver some good news over the weekend. In Sunday, power forward Amanze Ngumezi of Savannah Georgia committed to Mark Fox’s Georgia basketball team.
Ngumezi is a three-star prospect according to 247 Sports. They have him ranked as the no. 130 player in America and the no. 6 player in the state of Georgia. He attends Johnson High School in Savannah and averaged 12.8 points per game as a junior. He also plays travel ball for 1Family Hoops
He stands at 6’9 and currently weighs around 235 pounds. He shot 66 percent from the field last season and shoots mostly inside the arch.

If he can add a bit of size and becomes a better rebounder, he’ll be a guy that coaches will look to replace Derek Ogbeide when he leaves school in 2019. Being the no. 6 player in a state like Georgia already carries those kind of expectations.
Ngumezi provides a great start to the 2018 recruiting class. Playing on the travel circuit, he’s around other top players in Georgia such as Drue Drinnon and JoJo Toppin, two of the best players in the state who also appear to be leaning towards the Bulldogs.
Ngumezi committed after spending the whole weekend on campus. He arrived Friday, attended Georgia’s win over Appalachian State on Saturday and committed early Sunday morning.

He was apparently impressed with what he experienced on campus. It helps when your visit coincides with the first football game of the season so you have a bug taste of just how much the Bulldog Nation loved cheering for the Dawgs.
