Overall Team Grade: A

There are definitely some things that need to be cleaned up and improved before the Dawgs head to South Bend and most of those have already been mentioned here. Although the score was only 31-10, it definitely could have been a much bigger win. But Georgia didn’t need to play its starters the entire game Saturday. The starters were able to get some valuable rest late in the game and several true freshmen were able to play a significant amount of snaps which will only help in their development going forward.

This wasn’t a blowout, but it was close. It was a really good start by a team that needed one. Last year, Georgia never really put teams away easily. We all remember the Nicholls State game. That Georgia team simply wasn;t able to up its game and put away a lesser opponent. This year’s side did that and they did it to a better side. App. State is no joke and they showed that last year. That Georgia handled them the way that they did is why they get such a good grade.

The Dawgs travel to South Bend on Saturday for Week 2 to play Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. (ET) on NBC. Stay tuned later in the week for my game prediction.
