Georgia Football: What offense could we see vs Notre Dame.
The Running game needs to be dominant.
If Georgia is going to beat the Irish this week, it’s going to be on the ground. Last week, both Nick Chubb and Sony Michel looked like they were headed for big seasons. That’s incredibly important for Georgia because if they are going to win in South Bend, they will likely need both to perform even better.
Notre Dame struggled against the run last year but they have talent on the D-line. Georgia’s offensive line was just ok last week. It was better than last year but this team will rely on the big play ability of its backs to make this running game work. Chubb and Michel showed last week just how they can make 1 play that leads to a scoring drive. That is going to be crucial this week.
The running scheme was very vanilla last week and hopefully that changes in week 2. UGA needs to find some innovative ways to put the defense on its toes and that falls on the play caller Jim Chaney. This is an area where fans are looking for the most improvement this season. It would be great to see a little wildcat or something as well. For this running game to win the game, we will need to see some more creative coaching.
Lastly, the X-factors. The backup running backs. D’Andre Swift showed last week what he could do. Brian Herrian and Elijah Holyfield are no slouches either. Their touches will be limited but all of them have the ability to turn in a big play. The team will need a few of those this coming week.
