The Receivers have to scare defenders.

As I said, Georgia does not need Fromm to chuck the ball around to win. If he does that, we’re in trouble. However, he is going to need to prove that he’s a threat with his arm to stretch out the defense. To do that, our receivers are going to have to get themselves open and make some plays.

The value of a downfield shot can never be underestimated. It scares defensive backs and they never want to get burned more than once. Riley Ridley should be back this week and he and Javon Wims on the outside both have the ability to go the distance.

Ridley’s return should mean that Terry Godwin will be in the slot more this week and that is his natural position. Fromm will need him to run some crisp routes and make some defenders miss to make ND worry about the middle of the field.

Mecole Hardman will also be important. He’s the kind of player who can turn the game on its head with one play. If he can find himself some space and Fromm can get him the ball, he has the ability to not only go the distance but also change how the defense prevents the pass.
