The Tight Ends could make all the difference.

Speaking of the middle of the field, this is where the tight ends will be important. We saw on a couple of plays last week how much of a danger Issac Nauta is. He’s a legitimate weapon who is very hard to cover. He also has the size to be a very decent blocker when he wants to be. He’s going to need to do both of those this week.

If the run game is going to succeed, it’s going to require the tight ends to make good blocks and generate some space for the running backs. But if he can own those 10-15 yard routes in the middle of the field that move the chain, he’ll also give the defense a lot to think about.

The red zone is also going to be another area when Nauta is important. His size and athleticism make him a nightmare to cover when it comes to jump balls. If Georgia is going to threaten ND in the red zone, it will likely be with Nauta. Score one of those and then suddenly, they can’t stack the box anymore.

Next: Play of the week in week 1.

For Georgia to beat Notre Dame, it’s going to take a collective effort on offense. Hopefully we see a more creative and exciting game play this week that gets the ball into our play makers hands. If we do and Jake Fromm stays mistake free, the UGA certainly has a chance of upsetting the Vegas oddsmakers.
