Second Quarter:

Georgia’s first drive of the second quarter held the first turnover of the game. Freshman QB Jake Fromm made a mistake handing the ball off to Nick Chubb. He held the ball back as if faking an RPO and the ball got dropped. To make matters worse, Fromm tried to pick the ball up instead of jumping upon it, which led to a turnover.

The Irish got the ball back on the UGA 32 yard line, clearly the best field position they had all night. QB Brandon Wimbush completed his longest pass of the night on the first play of 32 yards to his running back Mike Adams. That took them all the way down to the Georgia 2 yard line. Wimbush would run in to take a 10-3 lead.

Georgia would respond well and come back on the following drive. Sony Michel and Nick Chubb repeatedly beat down the Notre Dame defense with multiple plays of more than 5 yards as the dawgs marched down the field. The dawgs drove 62 yards and had no gain longer than 13 yards. It was smash mouth football at its best and was finished off with a catch for the ages. Terry Godwin made an incredible 1 handed catch in the corner. Just google it. It was OBJ like and glorious.

Notre Dame would come back and score a field goal on the next drive before both teams struggled to move the ball. Jake Fromm threw an interception on his final drive of the half, but the UGA defense was able to stuff the Notre Dame offense back and the teams went into the half with UGA trailing 13-10.
