Third Quarter:

Georgia got the ball to start the third quarter and the offense again moved the ball. After getting down to the ND 26 yard line, however, the drive stalled. Rodrigo Blankenship stepped in and missed what was a 44-yard field goal. It was his first miss of the season but it visibly took the wind out of dawgs fans at the time.

After two more three and outs, Georgia punted the ball and was hit by a rare bad punt by Cameron Nizialek. Notre Dame started on their 46 yard line and once again got help from a bad pass interference call. This time the person who made the mistake was made by Dominick Sanders. Notre Dame, however, were stopped by a stout defensive front and could only get a field goal to make the score 16-10.

Georgia then put together what might have been their best drive of the game. The drive 75 yards down the field and Sony Michel scored a big touchdown to take the lead. They were helped out by a late hit penalty against Notre Dame when they hit Jake Fromm after he threw the ball. They also had a huge 40 yard run by freshman D’Andre Swift. That was the most explosive play of the game and completely changed the drive.

The UGA defense then brought in their first turnover of the game when Lorenzo Carter forced a fumble and recovered it on a sack. Unfortunately, Georgia couldn’t move the ball after Mecole Hardman dropped a great pass from Jake Fromm that would have been a touchdown.
