Overview:
Still with me? That was the definition of nerve racking! I swear to god, this UGA team might put a few gray hairs on some of our heads this year. There were a lot of mistakes made by Georgia throughout this game. The dawgs gave away 12 penalties for 127 yards. That is insane. Some of that was on an officiating crew who, to be honest, did not do the SEC proud, but others were just poor decisions by some players who should know better.
UGA’s offensive gameplan was also bizarre. They never seemed to really find a rhythm and far too often had Fromm throw the ball while Sony Michel and Nick Chubb looked on. As bad as those things were, good lord this defense is something else. Were it not for the penalties and turnovers, I’m not sure the Irish would have scored more than 6 points. That’s how dominant this unit was.
There were fantastic plays all over the field from a lot of different players. Roquan Smith looked like a man among boys and Carter and Bellamy both made huge plays. But some of the Freshman showed up. Walter Grant got his first sack and Richard LeCounte had a big time pass breakup on third down to stop the Irish moving the ball.

While it wasn’t the perfect game, the dawgs deserve a lot of credit for getting the win. For a while, it felt like a very ‘Georgia’ game where we beat ourselves, but this time it was different. This team played their heart out and they seem to have the players that can make game winning plays. Bring on the rest of the season as the Georgia Bulldogs move to 2-0!
