Georgia football: Top performers from the win over Notre Dame
Georgia football invaded South Bend, Indiana Saturday night and returned home with a 20-19 victory.
The Georgia football team walked into South Bend, Indiana for the first time in program history, to play one of the most storied teams in college football history for only the second time ever.
Despite being ranked nearly ten spots higher, the No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs were a slight underdog to the No. 24 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and that may have been all the motivation this team neeeded.
What a game for the Bulldog Nation. Fans turned out by the thousands, turning what normally would have been hostile territory into a split crowd. The Dawgs moved the ball against a good defense with a true freshman quarterback, and played a near perfect game on defense.
The 1980 national championship team was gathered in Athens, watching at the UGA practice facility in Athens.
It was a night to be proud of. A night deserving of ringing the chapel bell and chanting “it’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog” all night long.
The only thing missing was Georgia’s beloved mascot, Uga, who was unable to make the trip due to Notre Dame’s archaic “no pets” policy at the stadium.
It wasn’t a perfect game. There’s a lot to be criticized, even more things that the team needs to clean up. But a win is a win. And this one felt really special in more ways than one. And in this story we’re going to run down the top performers from Georgia’s 20-19 win over Notre Dame.
